Whoops - I did it again!
Left too long between blogs, that is, according to a couple of family members, who've prompted me this week to 'get on with it'! Thank you, Sara and Steve!
I may, in order not to bore everyone to death and before I lose the will to live, update this over a few days, as you will all know that once I start I find it hard to stop. Maybe I should get an egg timer and play beat the clock.
OK, so let's start with christmas and new year. Safe arrival at EMA and safe journey to Lincoln. Sara was on her own, Elli being with the childminder and Chloe at school. Thankfully no ice or snow. Stayed with Sara for a couple of hours and then she took me to Mark's new abode, which is very nice with more space overall than the house he's just sold. I was pleased to see the sitting room and kitchen were tidy but the dining room was full of boxes and so was the bedroom I was using, although the bed was up. We just couldn't find the bedlinen and I couldn't get near the bed for boxes and bin bags. Glad to say we found the quilt and pillows fairly quickly, shifted the boxes to the spare room and I was able to get the bed made and unpack my case.
Most of the weekend was spent either in town shopping or at Mark's sorting rooms out. We borrowed a dining table and chairs from Sara to use for christmas day, so the dining room had to be cleared. Robyn and I put the christmas tree up and it looked lovely. Then Mark decided we'd put the wrong lights on so it all had to be done again.
Christmas day lunch went very well, Mark had planned what we were cooking in advance and it was lovely. One of Robyn's presents was a Wii .........
In November Simon asked me if I could get a Wii here as they were all out of stock in the UK. Bought one quite easily from my local electrical shop. Carted it over to the UK (it weighed 4kg) and duly handed it over. The weekend before christmas Mark had to get a new phone contract (because he's changed jobs) - the contract he eventually signed up to offered a free Wii or a playstation ....... which is why Robyn got a very unexpected extra present.
Needless to say she was thrilled to bits with it and we spent christmas afternoon playing baseball and bowling. I liked the bowling best - Derek and I used to do it before we were married (travelling 50+ miles to the nearest alley!). Robyn consistently beat us all at bowling and I hurt my shoulder by being too enthusiastic. Great activity though!
I did a few babysitting sessions for Sara including new year's eve when she, Scott and Chloe went to a big party at the house of friends. Elli and I watched Take That bring the in the New Year from the 02 arena - well, I watched, she bopped around but eventually fell asleep on the settee.
I didn't have time to catch up with any friends apart from Dougie and Doreen, whom I saw two or three times. Seems a lot of people now make christmas and new year a continuous holiday and make plans accordingly, using the time to catch up with their own families.
Sara took me into town a few times for the sales. I developed severe 'sale rage', I'm just not used to crowds of people around me while I shop. I got a few bargains including some lovely bedlinen - £8 for a single duvet and pillowcase in white with a simple black floral pattern. Bought two sets obviously as I have two single beds in my bedroom. They were from ASDA Home, or whatever it's called. Anyway it's one of many shops new to me since my last visit.
Finally the day dawned for my return home. The flight left at 7 am so it was an early start for Mark and me. Unfortunately, what with christmas presents and things I'd bought I was 10kg overweight on my baggage. Otherwise everything went to schedule - as on the outward flight I had a row of seats to myself which was lovely! Kevin was waiting for me and we had an uneventful journey back to Moraira. It was so good to be home! And very nice to be in a slightly warmer climate, although the day was overcast.
Managed to get unpacked and most of the laundry done before the day was over, can't bear to leave it all hanging around for days on end.
You see? There I was hoping to keep it short and just look at all that waffle! Back later or tomorrow! Have a good one!
