Merry Christmas everyone....

I've no idea how many people read this but even if it's only one I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful, healthy and prosperous new year. A bit early perhaps but given my history of updating this blog ..........

I dug out Derek's camcorder last week. John was doing 'Elvis' last Saturday at a place in Tormos and as my stills cameras have behaved so badly for me lately I thought maybe I'd have better luck with the Handycam. Never used it seriously before but I got about 40 minutes of John singing and it didn't turn out too badly except I forgot to activate the 'Nightshot' so the result is a bit dark. While I was digging around among the cassettes I found some footage which Derek had taken back in July 2006. Sara and the girls were here and we were sitting out on the naya, Derek trying to get some film of Elli, she was 9 months old at the time. What really got to me was that I could hear Derek trying to attract Elli's attention. It's nearly two years since I've heard his voice - I'd forgotten just how damaged his vocal chords were and how difficult it was for him to talk. Needless to say a few tears were shed.....

Update on the house .... Have added three more agents and had one viewer! No result from that yet; apparently she was preparing the ground prior to her husband visiting at the end of the month. Hope I make it onto her shortlist!

Once again I've been out and about quite a bit. Bad news is that the 'credit crunch' is affecting our area quite badly, many bars and restaurants are closing for longer than usual at this time of year, or reducing the number of evenings they open. John has lost his Tuesday night slot at the President in Javea until the spring. I'm missing my Tuesday evening out! However, now we're into December there are a number of 'christmassy' things happening, including a number of charity events.

We've been plagued with a number of very short power cuts lately. When I say short I mean a couple of seconds only but long enough to mean I have to re-set two clocks and the satellite settings and check the PIR light in the basement (otherwise it stays on continuously). One day it happened about 8 times. I was just thinking yesterday it hadn't happened for a few days so maybe the problem was sorted, but no - it happened again a few minutes ago. So frustrating!

Got almost all my christmas shopping done (except food), cards and letters written, but I'm going into the village today to get it finished I hope - if not I may have to make a trip to Jalon where there are some very nice shops - brilliant card shop there, prices much better than here in Moraira and they sell new and secondhand English books, worth a trip to browse through those if nothing else.

Weather's been variable lately, the last two nights we've had rain overnight but dry during the day, a bit chilly, but the sun's been shining. Last Sunday was the first time in a very long time that I haven't sunbathed on the naya while listening to the radio in the afternoon.

In case I don't get back on here before christmas I hope you all have a wonderful time - see you in 2009 if not before!
